The Foundation for Nutritional Research (FIN) carries out research projects in nutritional epidemiology of selected outcomes (such as cardiovascular diseases, obesity, fertility) and in the assessment of nutritional status in population groups. It also participates in national and international projects addressing e-health, the development of food composition databases, Mediterranean diet, nutritional policies and food based dietary guidelines.

In EURRECA, Prof. Lluís Serra-Majem, the Centre’s Director, forms part of the Steering Committee and leads Research Activity 1.1 on Intake Methods. FIN researchers are involved in various tasks including criteria for estimating nutritional adequacy, comparative analysis on current methods used in Europe to assess nutrient adequacy, intake methods used in special target populations; RA 1.3 Concepts and Definitions; and in RA 2 activities for infants, adults, immigrants and low income groups.
