EFSA Workplan for 2008 announced

EURRECA is working in close collaboration with EFSA - the European Food Safety Authority - to improve the process and scientific basis on which micronutrient recommendations for European populations can be developed. At EFSA's last Management Board meeting of 2007, hosted in Lisbon by the Portuguese Presidency, EFSA’s Work Programme and Budget for 2008 were agreed which will steer the year ahead’s activities for Europe’s food safety watchdog.

US workshop on Daily Recommended Intakes (DRIs), Washington DC, September 2007: The Development of DRIs 1994-2004: Lessons Learned & New Challenges
Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs), a concept developed between 1994 and 2004, are a new approach to nutrient reference standards. This US Institute of Medicine workshop was an opportunity to look at the lessons learned from the process and identify issues to be considered in further developing the approach. EURRECA Network members attended to ensure learnings from the US experience with DRIs can be built in to the development of EURRECA's work.
